Asakusa - February 17, 2006
A couple of weeks ago, I went to Senso-ji in Asakusa here in Tokyo. Senso-ji is the temple dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of compassion. The legend goes that two fishermen found a statue of Kannon in the nearby Sumida River. They threw it back, but it kept returning to them and so at last they bowed to destiny and founded a temple to her.

Oh, lovely. Kannon/Quan Yin is closest to being my matroness, you know.
